Full Circle

Life has a way of bringing you back to the beginning again. If you don’t know what I mean, then let me explain.

In life, there are cycles for everything; cycles for our emotions, cycles for our hormones, and even cycles for the ways we think or learn different things.

For example, I have three kids. They’re all adults with families of their own. But when they were little, one child would act up while the other two would be doing fine. But when that child worked through whatever the issue was at the moment, then it was a guarantee that within a week or so, the next child would have their turn at acting up. And this would cycle to our third child and come full circle back to the first again. This cycle continued throughout their childhoods. My husband and I got so used to it that we pretty much knew who or when the next one started.

Another is how we learn or experience things in life. Sometimes when you’re going through a hard season, it may feel like you’ve gotten off track or gone on a tangent to your normal pathway. But in actuality, God is helping you walk a different path so you can learn from the experience in order to help you with what comes next on your normal route. Once you’ve learned, it always seems like you are set back where you left off, like a déjà vu moment. You’re standing in a place you’ve been before, but you’re not quite sure of it yet. Either way, now you’re better equipped to walk the next part of your journey through life.

Sometimes, cycles in life could simply be you doing something you’re passionate about. Something comes along to change how you feel about that passion, maybe an injury or someone hurting you who’s associated with it. You might step away from it. Like a professional athlete having to step away from the field to recover from an injury. Some players come back to the sport with time and healing. Others take on a different role with the sport if they are unable to return but haven’t given up their passion yet. Some don’t return at all.

When I talk a cycle, I’m talking about the player that returns either fully or in a different capacity. They may have had to lay their passion down for a bit in order to heal, but they never gave up on their dream. And in doing so, they came full circle back to what they love.

Same goes for the person that lays their passion down because someone hurt them and doing what they love is now too painful to continue. In this instance, it’s takes time and letting go of what was in order to heal completely. When that happens, then it depends on the person. Is their passion still there? Has it been tainted by the experience and now not desirable to do? It’s up to the person to decide what’s next. They can go back to doing the same thing as before, or they can tweak it into something else that they enjoy doing now.

All these things are cycles. Some people feel experiencing them is very uncomfortable, and I’ll say that is very true! But I wouldn’t regret them, because with each cycle, a person gets stronger and makes changes for the next new thing they are supposed to do.

In the end, don’t be afraid of the cycles of life. They always lead you back to the beginning, but you are not the same person as when you first started. You’re better with each time around:)

Whirling Jubilee

Like a child, it’s okay to spin with delight and wonder. For so many, that trait has been lost with age. We
need to make that “okay” again. We need to celebrate life with unbridled joy, love, and laughter;
dancing until we can’t dance anymore.
